This week's episode of the podcast is a special episode, recorded live on the steps of the old Charlie Chaplin studios in Hollywood!
Christopher James and Jesse Knight join me on the steps of the old Chaplin Studios, now the Jim Henson Studios, to talk about Charlie Chaplin and his films. Jesse and I had discussed recording an episode like this for a while, and with Christopher hosting the "In Movie Nerds We Trust" podcast, we figured this would be the perfect time for a mashup episode.
In the episode we talked about the great impact that Charlie Chaplin's films had on us as kids and how it first helped grow our love for film and comedy. We talked about how Chaplin's films manage to still relate to events today, as well as the culture impact of his time, his filmmaking process, some of the iconic figures that visited the Chaplin Studios, Chaplin's legacy and more.
I'm so glad that we were finally able to record this episode on the steps on the Chaplin Studios. Many people don't know that Jesse is a huge Chaplin fan, and being here to talk Chaplin films was really special for Jesse. Chaplin's films have meant a lot to all of us and we would encourage all of you listening to check out the massive collection of Charlie Chaplin's work.

On today's episode, I have comedian and actor, Mateen Stewart!
Mateen is a fantastic comic that I've wanted to have on the show for a while now. I was so glad we were finally able to make this happen while Jesse, Christopher and I were in Los Angeles last month.
We talked to Mateen about growing up in Detriot, making the move to Los Angeles, finding his way to comedy, who his inspirations were, getting into acting, working with Ben Stiller, his new stand up album "Let's Get Mateened", and so much more!
Mateen recently released his new stand up album, "Let's Get Mateened"and we absolutely loved it. Mateen actually recorded the album at 50 West in Salt Lake City, where Christopher actually opened for him. Make sure you go pick his album on iTunes today!

On today's episode I have comedy writer and filmmaker, Joel Levinson!
Joel is part of the comedy writing and production team, The Levinson Brothers, with his brother Stephen. Stephen is best known for his work as a writer on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon & Comedy Central, and Joel has also made appearances on The Tonight Show, The New York Times, and released multiple comedy albums with Stephen.
I talked with Joel about the film they are currently working on called, "Boy Band: The Heartthrob Story". Boy Band is a musical comedy that follows 90's boy band who was huge 17 years ago, but now that they're fat, balding and less "boyish", they're still trying to have their next hit album. The kickstarter has just 4 days left, and they are trying to raise the final $1000 to get the film made! The film has an incredible and hilarious cast, starring: Steve Agee (New Girl, Guardians of the Galaxy 2), Jordan Carlos (The Nightly Show), Seth Herzog (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon) and Dave Hill (@midnight, Comedy Central).
Aside from the film, I also talked with Joel about growing up with comedy and music, early musical comedy inspirations, how they got started in making films, writing their comedy albums with Rob Kutner (Conan The Daily Show), filmmaking in their hometown and more.

On today's episode, I have comedian and musician, Mike Phirman!
I first met Mike several years ago at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles and have always wanted to have him on the show. Mike was nice enough to join us at our hotel in Los Angeles to record this episode. We were planning to record this episode at UCB, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we had to quickly change to our hotel room.
In the episode, we talked to Mike about growing up in California, discovering Weird Al as a kid, writing comedy songs, creating Hard n' Phirm with Chris Hardwick, performing and recording with Weird Al, drinking at Chucky Cheese, being a dad and raising his kids, writing new music, being the one-man band on the Nerdist TV show, and so much more.

On today's episode, I have comedian, Brandie Posey!
I've wanted to have Brandie on the podcast for several months, but we were never able to make our schedules work until now. Brandie met up with us in Los Angeles to record this new episode of the podcast. This episode is also the first of several of the podcasts we recorded in Los Angeles, featuring Christopher James and Jesse Knight back on the episode.
We talked to Brandie about going to film school in Philadelphia, going to UCB, moving to Los Angeles, learning improv, finding her way to stand up, starting Lady to Lady Podcast, her comedy show "Picture This", working on her new album, "Opinion Cave", and so much more!

On today's episode, I sat down with Jesse Knight & Christopher James to recap our time at Salt Lake Comic Con.
We were also joined on this episode by Jason David Frank (Power Rangers) and John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville) during the Salt Lake Comic Con press conference.
In the episode we talked about our accidental encounter with Mark Hamill, exploring the convention floor, meeting incredible guests like Robert England, Danny Trejo & Henry Winkler, trying to convince Billy Boyd to buy an Apple Watch, my Saturday panel, and so much more.
We had such a great time at this year's convention and loved meeting new fans. Thanks for coming out to the panel. We're already looking forward to next year's convention! Thanks for having us back, Salt Lake Comic Con!
We recorded this episode in our hotel room in Mesquite, Nevada on our way back to Los Angeles to record a ton of upcoming episodes.

On today's episode of the podcast, I have actress and podcaster Quinci Staker!
I've had the chance to work with Quinci on the "In Movie Nerds We Trust" podcast that she co-hosts with Christopher James, but hadn't had a chance to really talk with her about her acting career and podcasting. Quinci and I have also worked on a few of the same films, but have never actually been on set together.
It was great to sit down with Quinci and talk with her about her acting background, how she got started in acting, what inspired her to start, childhood school plays, getting into films, co-hosting "In Movie Nerds We Trust", our mutual dislike for "Suicide Squad" and so much more.

On today's episode, I talked with filmmaker, Alex Oshmyansky!
Alex was on the show today to talk about his debut film, "Career Opportunites in Organized Crime". This film is the first ever feature-length virtual reality film, but before I could talk to him about the film, we had to talk with him about his backstory.
Alex has such an incredible story before he even made the jump into filmmaking. Alex graduated college at the age of 18, earned a PHD in Mathematics, went on to Medical School at Duke, and then did his residency at Harvard Medical School and John Hopkins University.
I talked with Alex about graduating at 18, what the experience was like to be so young finishing college, missing out on the normal high school & college experience, getting into film, what goes into making a VR film and so much more.

On today's episode, Austin Grant and I sat down and recaped our time at this year's San Diego Comic-Con!
We arrived in San Diego on Wednesday, July, 20th just in time for preview night. The San Diego Airport was again decked out in Conan, in anticipation for the week's most in-demand shows!
As you may have heard on Episode 72, our matter of SDCC business was talking with writer/director Teddy Cecil. Following our interview with Teddy, we hit the convention floor!
Austin and I recapped our time during preview night, our hotel debacle, the insane heat in San Diego, dealing with crowds, meeting some of our heroes, attending Conan, going to the Meltdown Show, going to panels, Nerdist & Geek & Sundry's Camp Conival, shopping the convention floor and more.
We can't thank San Diego Comic-Con enough for allowing us to come and do a live show and be able to have these incredible experiences in San Diego. Everybody at SDCC treats us incredibly well and really makes us feel like family.
I'm glad that Austin and I were able to sit down and get this recap recorded before our schedules go crazy for the next few months. Today's episode of the podcast comes to you LIVE from San Diego Comic-Con, with special guests, Rob Kutner and David J. Peterson! We were honored to have these two join us for the show and had such a great time talking with them.
As you may know, Rob is currently a writer for Conan, which was possibly the hottest show in town during Comic-Con. We talked with Rob about writing for Conan and The Daily Show, as well as his comedy sci-fi comic "Shrinkage", and his comedy mini-series "Runaway Brains", that he does with Ken Jennings and Weird Al Yankovic on Howl.fm.
David J. Peterson is the brains behind many of your favorite TV and Film Languages, such as Dothraki in Game of Thrones. It was incredible to talk with David and learn the process of how he develops the languages, what it's like working on the shows, upcoming projects, and David even gave my wife her own Dothraki name.
This was our second year returning to SDCC and we couldn't have been happier to be back! The Programming and Press teams are SDCC are always incredibly welcoming and so helpful in making sure our experience is incredible.
