Episode 75 - Alex Oshmyansky

On today's episode, I talked with filmmaker, Alex Oshmyansky! 

Alex was on the show today to talk about his debut film, "Career Opportunites in Organized Crime". This film is the first ever feature-length virtual reality film, but before I could talk to him about the film, we had to talk with him about his backstory. 

Alex has such an incredible story before he even made the jump into filmmaking. Alex graduated college at the age of 18, earned a PHD in Mathematics, went on to Medical School at Duke, and then did his residency at Harvard Medical School and John Hopkins University. 

I talked with Alex about graduating at 18, what the experience was like to be so young finishing college, missing out on the normal high school & college experience, getting into film, what goes into making a VR film and so much more.

Episode 74 - San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Recap

On today's episode, Austin Grant and I sat down and recaped our time at this year's San Diego Comic-Con!

We arrived in San Diego on Wednesday, July, 20th just in time for preview night. The San Diego Airport was again decked out in Conan, in anticipation for the week's most in-demand shows!

As you may have heard on Episode 72, our matter of SDCC business was talking with writer/director Teddy Cecil. Following our interview with Teddy, we hit the convention floor! 

Austin and I recapped our time during preview night, our hotel debacle, the insane heat in San Diego, dealing with crowds, meeting some of our heroes, attending Conan, going to the Meltdown Show, going to panels, Nerdist & Geek & Sundry's Camp Conival, shopping the convention floor and more.

We can't thank San Diego Comic-Con enough for allowing us to come and do a live show and be able to have these incredible experiences in San Diego. Everybody at SDCC treats us incredibly well and really makes us feel like family. 

I'm glad that Austin and I were able to sit down and get this recap recorded before our schedules go crazy for the next few months. Episode 73 - LIVE from San Diego Comic-Con w/ Rob Kutner & David J. Peterson

Today's episode of the podcast comes to you LIVE from San Diego Comic-Con, with special guests, Rob Kutner and David J. Peterson! We were honored to have these two join us for the show and had such a great time talking with them. 

As you may know, Rob is currently a writer for Conan, which was possibly the hottest show in town during Comic-Con. We talked with Rob about writing for Conan and The Daily Show, as well as his comedy sci-fi comic "Shrinkage", and his comedy mini-series "Runaway Brains", that he does with Ken Jennings and Weird Al Yankovic on Howl.fm. 

David J. Peterson is the brains behind many of your favorite TV and Film Languages, such as Dothraki in Game of Thrones. It was incredible to talk with David and learn the process of how he develops the languages, what it's like working on the shows, upcoming projects, and David even gave my wife her own Dothraki name. 

This was our second year returning to SDCC and we couldn't have been happier to be back! The Programming and Press teams are SDCC are always incredibly welcoming and so helpful in making sure our experience is incredible.

On today’s episode of the podcast, I talked with writer & director, Teddy Cecil!

This episode we’re coming to you live from San Diego Comic-Con. This is not the live show that we did as part of the convention, but it was recorded here at SDCC at the Hilton Bayfront.

We apologize for the delay on this episode. This episode was suppose to release on July 20^th, but due to some internet issues while on the road, it was delayed until now.

Teddy sat down and talked with us about his multiple award-winning short film, ‘Helio’ that was screening at San Diego Comic-Con. We also talked to Teddy about his first Comic-Con experience, the filmmaking process, what inspired him to make ‘Helio’, his writing inspiration and more!

 A huge Thanks to Teddy for taking the time to meet up with us before preview night as both of us arrived in San Diego. It was such a great time talking with him and learning about how “Helio’ came about.

Episode 70 - Blake Casselman

On today's episode I have writer and Director of Programming for Salt Lake Comic Con, Blake Casselman! 

I have slowly gotten to know Blake over the years as I've been a panelist for Salt Lake Comic Con and it was great to finally have the chance to sit down and talk with Blake about his career. 

Blake and I talked about how he started writing, working on Salt Lake Comic Con and the process of programming, his latest film "Adopting Trouble, his graphic novel "Devil's Triangle, and so much more. 

It was so great to learn more about Blake's story and where he comes from as a writer and a filmmaker. Blake currently has his film "Adopting Trouble" circulating at a few festivals, and his graphic novel "Devil's Triangle" is available on Amazon.

Episode 69 - Toy Soup

On today's episode of the podcast I have comedians Andrew Jensen and Troy Taylor of the improv comedy team, Toy Soup!

I've run into Andrew and Troy over the years at clubs and recently worked with Andrew on a few episodes of 'You Again', but this was the first time we really have a chance to sit down to talk. 

It was great to learn more about Andrew and Troy's story. We talked about how they started performing, learning improv,  pre-show rituals, favorite improv games, creating Toy Soup, their improv and comedy heroes, working on 'You Again' and so much more!

Episode 67 - Andrew Troy

On today's episode I talked with actor, Andrew Troy!

Andrew is a fantastic actor who currently has the film "Riot" out in Redox's nationwide. I have known Andrew for a few years now, initially meeting him through one of our regular panelists, Austin Grant, as Andrew is Austin's brother-in-law. I've had the privilege to work with Andrew on a few films and it is always a pleasure to talk with him. 

Andrew has so many incredible stories that we really only scraped the top in this episode. I talked with Andrew about taking time off to study acting, starting business' and earning his first million by age 20, have the secret service raid his home, starting Sub Zero Ice Cream, filmmaking, acting, and so much more!

Episode 66 - Maronzio Vance

On today's episode of the podcast I have comedian and actor Maronzio Vance! 

Maronzio currently stars in the new TV Land show, Lopez, where he plays George Lopez's sidekick, who gives him a dose of reality whenever he needs it.

I've enjoyed Maronzio's comedy for years and it was great to talk with him a little about his comedy career. We talked about Maronzio starting comedy at the age of 15, waiting in the bathroom for 2 1/2 hours to meet the Kings of Comedy, being a comedy purist, working on Lopez and more.
