Episode 65 - Brent Geisler

On this week's episode of the podcast, I have filmmaker and radio host, Brent Geisler!

I first met Brent several years ago as we crossed path with a mutual fandom for a band called, "The Neighbors". Over the years, Brent and I have run into each other on a few film sets including Punk's Dead: SLC Punk 2, and most recently an HBO film that will release next year. I have always admired Brent's film career and wanted to learn more about it and what he's currently working on.

It was great to talk to Brent about his film career and learn more about his radio show, Villa Koola Radio. Brent and I talked about how he got his start in film, what inspired him to start, some of the incredible Directors and Actors that he's had the chance to work with, collecting vinyl, playing music, and so much more!

Episode 64 - I'll Take The Troubled One!

This week's episode is our recap from Los Angeles! We recorded this episode a few weeks back following the Oscar's, but due to a few episodes that had to be released first and an insanely busy filming and travel schedule, we had to push this episode back. No need to worry though, it's here for you now! We recorded this episode late at night from our hotel on the Sunset Strip.

Austin Grant, Jesse Knight, Christopher James and I share all of our stories on this episode. We had such an amazing time on this trip and has some incredible experiences and some incredibly strange encounters, such as being offered cocaine and hookers early one morning from two pimps. There was a lot of great food, comedy, TV interviews, and so much more!

Episode 63 - Andrew Sleighter

On this week's episode I have comedian, Andrew Sleighter!

It was great to sit down and catch up with Andrew. If memory served me right, we first briefly met at Flappers Comedy in Burbank a few years ago, but neither of us could remember for sure. Either way, it was great to sit down and talk comedy with Andrew. 

Andrew and I talked about starting his comedy career in Seattle, moving to Boston to do stand up, making the move to Los Angeles, his comedy idols, working on Sports Show with Norm Macdonald, performing on Conan and so much more.

Episode 62 - 'You Again' w/ Zachari Reynolds & Andrea Peterson

On today's episode I had Zachary Reynolds and Andrea Peterson from the new web series, 'You Again'. 

It was great to have Andrea and Zach on the show to talk about 'You Again', and tell everybody about how the series came about, who the characters are, working together, their acting careers, the crowdfunding campaign and so much more. 

As many of you know I have also had a small part in 'You Again' as a collaborating writer on the series, as well as an actor in one of the upcoming episodes in the first season. I am honored to be a part of this show and have loved getting know Andrea and Zach through the process.

Episode 61 - The Oscar Picks Episode

It's that time of year again. The Academy Awards are finally here! As many of you know, this is one of my favorite times of year as Austin Grant and I sit down and make our predictions for the Oscars. I've had the opportunity to be part of the Oscar Press for the last few years and it's always such a great time to see the nominations and the show come together.

Jimmy Martin from the Geek Show Podcast and Big Movie Mouth-Off usually joins us for this episode, but unfortunately something came up last minute and he was not able to join us this year. Jimmy is doing his annual Big Movie Mouth-Off Oscar Viewing Party at Brewvies in Salt Lake City. Make sure to check that out if you're in Salt Lake. 

Austin and I are heading down to Los Angeles in just a few short hours for all of the Oscar fun. This is my second year bringing Austin down with me, and we've also invited Jesse Knight and Christopher James. We will be recording several new episodes while we are on our way to Los Angeles and while we are in town. 

We are so excited for Chris Rock to be hosting this Oscars this year and can't wait to see what he brings to the show. It was so hard to make our picks this year as there are so many incredible films, actors, and filmmakers nominated.

Episode 60 - Jason Harvey

On this week's episode of On the Mic Podcast I have comedian, Jason Harvey!

I had such a great time sitting down and catching up with Jason. I first met Jason a few years ago while he was promoting a comedy show that he was bringing to town. We always see each other at comedy shows, but this was the first chance we really had to sit down and talk. 

Jason and I talked about the current medical marijuana bill in Utah, better understanding women's rights, having a kid, how Jason's comedy career started, all of the many projects Jason is working on and so much more! 

Jason has dedicated so much to bringing great comedy to Utah creating more and more shows, as well as hosting several open mic's and shows. Jason hosts the monthly show "Comedy & Other Opinions" and Club at 50 West in Salt Lake every third week of the month. On top of Jason's already busy schedule, he also hosts the podcast "Stupid Questions".

Episode 59 - The Katydids

On today's episode I take with the improv and sketch comedy group, The Katydids! 

The Katydids have a fantastic new comedy show starting on TV Land on January 13th, called Teachers. I've had the opportunity to see the first few episodes of the show and it's absolutely hilarious. Described as a mix of Bad Teacher meets Broad City, it will keep you laughing the entire time. The show also includes Executive Producer Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men), as well as show runners Ian Roberts and Jay Martel, formerly from Key & Peele.

I talked with The Katydids about getting their start at The Second City and iO in Chicago, how they came up with the name Katydids, how all of their names are derived from the name Katherine, creating the show Teachers, and so much more.

Episode 58 - In 2015, I ate a large quantity of sandwich...

Happy New Year, everybody! On this weeks episode of the podcast, we celebrate 2015 and talk about all that is to come in 2016!

Austin Grant, Christopher James, and Jesse Knight joined me once again to reminisce all of the good times we had in 2015. We talked about the launch of Christopher's podcast, In Movie Nerds We Trust, some of the great roles that Austin has had this year, meeting Jesse, and Jesse starting to travel with us, and so much more. 

The four of us all have some incredible things coming up in 2016. Austin has a few films coming out this year, including the new Rob Reiner film "Being Charlie" and "Love Everlasting". Christopher has a lot of great standup events and podcast episodes coming (make sure to check out In Movie Nerds We Trust), and Jesse will be working with us on a lot of new film projects as well as heading back to Los Angeles with us in 2016.

Episode 57 - Merry Christmas, Tim Goth

Today's episode on the podcast is the Christmas Episode!

On this episode I invited some of my regular panelists, and three of my best friends, Austin Grant, Christopher James, and Jesse Knight. With it being the holidays and time for family, I wanted to bring the On the Mic family together and talk about Christmas traditions and open some presents together. 

It took us a little while to get into the Christmas talk as we enjoyed some eggnog and talked about a character I created called "Tim Goth" while I was on the set of SLC Punk 2: Punk's Dead in 2014. Christopher helped transition the episode to some Christmas talk as he introduced us to a horror version of Jack Frost, who is a killer snowman in this film. 

We also talked about the Reese's Christmas Tree controversy, our Christmas traditions, favorite Christmas movies, our Christmas plans and so much more complete and utter non-sense. Austin also takes on the official role as "The Eggnologist" of the podcast.

Episode 56 - Kevin Allison

On today's episode of the podcast, I talked with comedian, writer, actor, and podcaster, Kevin Allison!

Kevin is best known for his hit podcast RISK, as well as being one of the founding members of MTV's cult classic sketch comedy team, The State. 

Kevin and I talked about how he started RISK, the art of storytelling, how storytelling affects entertainment, working on The State and so much more!
