On todays new episode of On the Mic I talked with actor, Omar Dorsey! 

Omar is best known for his work in film and television for his roles in Django Unchained, The Blind Side, Roadtrip, Eastbound and Down, Rizzoli and Isles, Castle, Bones, and currently on the hit Fox show, Rake. 

Omar and I talked about our great love for Los Angeles and living in such great LA communities. We also talked about what it takes to really become a successful actor, growing up in Georgia, moving to LA, working on Django and working with Quentin Tarantino, as well as what it has been like to work with Greg Kinnear on his new show Rake.

Episode 19 - Leigh Whannell

In this new episode I talked with writer, actor and producer, Leigh Whannell. Leigh is best known for his work writing and acting in the Saw and Insidious films. 

I talked to Leigh about his new film "The Mule" that is premiering at SXSW on Sunday, March 9th.

Here is the synopsis for The Mule: It's 1983. A naive man with lethal narcotics hidden in his stomach is detained by Australian Federal Police. Alone and afraid, ‘the Mule’ makes a desperate choice; to defy his bodily functions and withhold the evidence...literally. And by doing so becomes a 'human time-bomb'; dragging cops, criminals and concerned family into his impossible escapade. Inspired by true events, THE MULE is directed by Angus Sampson and Tony Mahony, with a darkly comic screenplay by Sampson, Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious), and Jaime Browne. The film stars Hugo Weaving alongside Sampson and Whannell with an ensemble cast including Ewen Leslie, Geoff Morrell, Georgina Haig, Noni Hazlehurst and John Noble.

It was great to talk to Leigh about The Mule. Leigh and I also talk about the direction we see filmmaking going and how we see Cinema evolving in the future. 

Leigh also let's us in a a new film that he's working on, but you will have to listen to the episode to find out what that is.

Episode 18 - Oscar Edition with Jimmy Martin

This episode of On the Mic is a special Oscar edition! I sat down with President of the Utah Film Critics Association, Jimmy Martin. Jimmy is also a member of the GeekShow Podcast Panel, as well as one of the co-hosts of Big Movie Mouth-Off on Comcast. 

Jimmy and I went through all of the Oscar categories and made our winner picks. There was a lot that we agreed on, but a lot that we were totally opposite on. It was great to talk through all of the nominees and dig into the technical aspect of movie making. 

In case you're living under a rock and hadn't heard, Ellen DeGeneres is hosting this years Oscars! I am really excited for Ellen to be hosting this year! I absolutely love Ellen and know she is going to kill it! 

I was really bummed to not be out in LA this weekend for all of the Oscar festivities. It's always such a great time and I'm really missing LA right now, but I can't wait to be back in the next few months.

Episode 17 - Guy Seidel

On todays episode I sat down comedian Guy Seidel. I've got to know Guy a little over the last year since I had him on the My House on the Moon Podcast. I wanted to sit down with Guy and find out what he had been up to over the last year since we talked. Guy and I talked about writing comedy, country music, being a musician, touring with comedy, Seidel on the Street and more.

Episode 16 - The Loveumentary with Nate Bagley

In this new episode I sat down with one of my longtime friends, Nate Bagley. 

I talked to Nate about a new project that he has been working on called "The Loveumentary". I first saw Nate posting on Facebook about this project last fall and it quickly caught my attention. I talked with Nate about what the Loveumentary is and how it got started. Nate's goal with The Loveumentary was to find out if true love still existed. 

Nate teamed up with Melissa Joy Kong, who was in the process of writing a book about true love stories,  and the two set out on a cross country journey to document the greatest love stories our country had to offer. 

Nate and I get a little deep on this episode about what makes a successful relationship and how people can really try and find happiness and true love. Nate and Melissa have been featured on Good Morning America, ABC Nightly News, Reddit, Business Insider, GQ, The Atlantic, and more! 

With the success of The Loveumentary and Nate's continual study of true love, Nate joined up with another one of our High School classmates, Steve Boyer, to create "Unbox Love". 

"Unbox Love" is a great project that will offer couples a monthly "date in a box" to help add some spontaneity and spice to their relationships. 

I was thrilled to catch up with Nate and find out about what he's been up to and learn all about "The Loveumentary" and "Unbox Love". Nothing excited me more than seeing my friends succeed and follow their dreams. Both of these projects are so incredible and inspiring and I can only wish Nate, Melissa, and Steve the best in these endeavors. Episode 12 - Director Thomas Morgan; Waiting for Mamu

On todays episode I talk with Director Thomas Morgan. Thomas is currently attending the Sundance and Slamdance Film Festival for his new Documentary, Waiting for Mamu. 

I recently screened Waiting for Mamu as part of the Slamdance Film Festival. Waiting for Mamu is a beautiful film with a powerful message. Waiting for Mamu is a powerful story of a woman named Pushpa Basnet from Kathmandu, Nepal. In Nepal, when a parent is sentenced to prison, their children will be sent to prison with them if they don't have another guardian to take care of them. Pushpa has taken it upon herself to save these children. Thomas takes us along Pushpa's journey as she rescues these children from prison and helps raise and educate their children so that they can have a better quality of life then what their parents have had.
